Description
The RoadRunner is our most stable tricycle. It is an efficient, all-around road cycle for recreation, around-town errands and short-distance commuting. It is much faster than most "adult trikes", is much more stable, has a very large amount of cargo capacity, and has powerful all-wheel disk brakes. It is delightfully comfortable. On the Roadrunner recumbent trike there is no wobbling as there is with a bike when traveling at slow speed up hills or when starting up from a stop; it tracks straight, even when you are looking around at the scenery. With its three-point stance it has good traction in wet or icy conditions; the addition of studded snow tires give it traction and braking even in the iciest of conditions. The RoadRunner has a very wide range of gears, including super-low for easy pedaling up steep hills.

The standard handlebar swings wide on sharp turns ("tiller effect"), and does not provide much support for the upper body. If you are getting a trike because you need or would like balance support, you can order the Linkage Steering option (at extra cost). Linkage steering replaces the wide-swinging standard handlebar with an almost straight handlebar that pivots around a single point, allowing you to support your weight on the bar without affecting the steering direction. Linkage steering may not be appropriate for persons who are both shorter and heavier (under 5'5″ and over 300#), who may need the greater body clearance of the standard tiller steering.

The RoadRunner has very wide range gearing. Gears are shifted just like a 24-speed mountain bike. The compound-gearing transmission allows you also to choose 8 "ranges" from super-low range to high range; a preferred range can be set manually, or with an optional shifter you can select from all ranges when desired. The very powerful lowest gear is 9 "gear inches" (by contrast, mountain bikes usually have a low gear of approximately 22 to 24 gear-inches) for easy climbing of hills or pulling of heavy loads. The highest and fastest gear is 150 gear-inches (road racing bikes typically have a 120 gear-inch top).
